"Being part of our Westlawn Falcon Family means being part of something bigger than myself. What I value most is our sense of connectedness. Our star students, teachers, staff, and families work together to support each other and to help our school succeed. Each day, I get to see growth, resilience, and kindness in action, whether it’s in the classroom, on the field or court, or in the hallways. And, it is a blessing to to serve alongside some of the most incredible people around. 

I also appreciate the pride that comes with being a Falcon. Our school community shows up, lifts each other up, and celebrates both big achievements and small victories. It’s incredibly rewarding to help create an environment where students feel safe, accepted, valued, and empowered to reach their full potential. That shared commitment is what makes Westlawn not just a school, but a family. And, I absolutely love our Falcon Family!"

“I like attending Westlawn because everyone shows respect, and I enjoy participating in the house games. One of my favorite things about Westlawn is PBIS because we get recognized and rewarded for doing the right thing. I also like the teachers here because they really care about us and make learning fun. Mrs. Matthews is one of my favorites because she always supports me and helps me do my best. Being at Westlawn has been a great experience so far.”

“I enjoy attending Westlawn because I love being in art class. Art helps me express myself, and being in those classes allows me to be creative and grow. Ms. Holley is especially helpful because she supports me, gives me ideas for my projects, and helps me improve my skills. I also appreciate Ms. Jones because she takes an interest in the books I read and the things I share. She helps me a lot, especially with writing essays. Westlawn has been a great place for me to learn and express who I am.”

I enjoy the positive relationships built between staff and students, as well as the strong sense of pride that comes from being a Falcon. Westlawn creates an environment where everyone is encouraged to do their best, support one another, and celebrate achievements. It truly feels like a family because everyone is valued and has a place to belong."

“I like attending Westlawn mostly because of the students. A lot of the people I’ve met here are relatable and easy to be around. I also have teachers I really enjoy, especially because of the way they teach. For example, my life science teacher does a great job of helping us learn while still allowing us to have fun. Overall, I like Westlawn because it has a good balance of great students and teachers, and it feels like a fair place where everyone is treated right.”

“For the past 11 years, I have been truly honored to serve the students, faculty, and staff of Westlawn Middle School. While the role comes with its challenges, the reward of caring for our students far outweighs them. Over the years, I have grown alongside our Falcon Stars—their resilience and strength continue to inspire me to be a better nurse and to provide the highest standard of care each and every day.

It is a privilege to support the health and well-being of our Falcon Family and to assist our dedicated staff whenever needed. I am continually inspired by the unity of our school community and the compassion our faculty shows to every student. I am proud to be a Falcon!”

"Working at WMS feels like arriving each day to teach alongside family—almost like working with my cousins. Not only are the standards and expectations for behavioral and academic excellence high, but the environment is also filled with empathy and understanding for our students, faculty, and staff from the top down. This creates a sense of enjoyment and encouragement that makes the work feel less stressful, even in a world where high-stakes content areas can seem overwhelming. Westlawn Middle allows me to teach and make an impact through effective leadership and meaningful learning experiences in mathematics, which is what I enjoy most."

“I enjoy attending Westlawn because of all the experiences and opportunities it has given me over the years. This year felt different—in a good way—because I’ve grown and started seeing things from a more mature perspective. I’ve realized that my education is important and that my choices and mindset matter. I’ve learned to take responsibility for my goals and make the most of every opportunity, and this year I truly focused on making it my best one yet.

My favorite classes over the past three years have been History and Math because I’ve been able to learn, have fun, and create great memories with my friends. Eighth grade has really pushed me to stay focused, work hard, and keep striving toward my goals every day.

One teacher who has made a big impact on me is Miss Q. She understands me, pays attention, and truly cares about my well-being. She has supported me through challenges since 6th grade, and I’m very grateful for everything she has done for me.”

“Being part of the Westlawn Falcons truly feels like being surrounded by family. I love seeing the students’ smiling faces as they walk through the doors each morning and welcoming them into the cafeteria. It brings me joy to provide meals that nourish their bodies and help them get through the day. I also enjoy connecting with students beyond the cafeteria, whether it’s in the gym or around campus. Most of all, I want every student to know they are cared for and valued. Our cafeteria staff takes pride in making sure each child feels loved.”

“I love being a part of the Westlawn Falcon Family because it truly feels like home. Every person here plays a role in creating something special. From our supportive administration to our dedicated teachers and the students who bring energy and life to our school each day. As a PE teacher, I enjoy helping students stay active, build confidence, and grow both on and off the court. While keeping the school safe is my top priority, I also appreciate being able to take part in events throughout the year, both during and outside of school hours. Those moments give me a chance to get to know the students and their families in a positive and meaningful way. "Becoming a Westlawn Falcon means more to me than simply holding a position—I know truly  this journey is aligned with my purpose. I approach each day with a genuine commitment to my students, caring for them as I would my own by offering patience, guidance, and consistent 
support. What makes this experience especially meaningful is seeing the way many of them receive that encouragement, allowing it to take root and shape their growth. Watching their 
confidence build and their mindset shift is something I truly value.

As a band teacher, I enjoy inspiring young musicians, helping them grow in confidence, and guiding them as they navigate both academic and personal challenges. Watching them develop their skills and find their voice through music is incredibly rewarding. I also appreciate the support I receive from my colleagues and administrators because it makes being part of this community even more meaningful.”
