Principal
Dr. Darlene F. Atkins, Principal
Dr. Atkins considers it both a privilege and an honor to serve as Principal of Westlawn Middle School. She is energized by the opportunity to make a lasting, positive impact on the lives of students and is committed to working alongside faculty, staff, parents, and the community to make this an exceptional school year.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education: English Language Arts, a Master of Education in English Language Arts, and a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership, along with certification in Instructional Leadership. Her professional experience includes nine years as an English teacher and three years as an assistant principal, all of which have shaped her passion for instructional excellence and student success.
At the heart of Dr. Atkins’ leadership is a strong belief in building meaningful relationships with all stakeholders. She believes that, together, the school community can create a foundation that ensures every student achieves high academic success, becomes a lifelong learner, and grows into a productive, responsible citizen. She also believes that even if, over the course of 25 years, she impacts the life of just one child, she will have made a meaningful difference in the world.
Dr. Atkins wants families to know that her door is always open. She welcomes any questions or concerns and looks forward to meeting each member of the Falcon Family while working together for the continued success of Westlawn.
