Teachers at WMS are able to connect with families due to the school's close proximity to nearby neighborhoods, making Westlawn a second home to students and teachers alike. Those who join the Westlawn Middle School faculty and staff should know that they will be cared about as a person first, and then as a professional. Westlawn Middle is truly a community school where neighborhood businesses and faith-based partners play a valuable role in strengthening the school. Located between The University of Alabama and Stillman College, Westlawn Middle School teachers are able to connect with these higher education partners to the benefit of students. In fact, both institutions have developed formalized tutoring programs to support students during and after-school. The school also has key partnerships with its local Adopt-A-School partner, Phifer, Inc. as well as various community partners including the Pi Tau Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.   For those looking to relocate to Tuscaloosa, the school is minutes from downtown Tuscaloosa and the interstate, making weekend trips after work to see family and friends back home a breeze.

A new administrative team offers a new vision to move the school forward in every aspect. Teachers are supported with feedback to improve their instructional practices through daily classroom visits.
